I like to give my VBS volunteers t-shirts every year. It creates unity, the kids easily recognize the leaders, and we don’t have to decide what to wear. The downside is trying to decide just how much sweat, paint, dirt, and glue a shirt can handle before it needs to be washed.
While I love the team bonding experience of t-shirts I absolutely HATE cheesy kid t-shirts. Long ago I began having my t-shirts designed by a graphic artist. They managed to take the kid theme from cheesy to pretty darn cool.
This year we utilized one of our recent graduates from church and asked him to design our logo. It served a couple of purposes. First of all we got a custom design for the price of an itunes card. More importantly, we were able to show value to an extremely talented young man.
So just a thought for you, think outside the box when it comes to t-shirt design. Nobody says you have to do it the same year after year.
Put ‘er there partner! Yeehaw!
